Before The Internet, There Was Only Silence

The Internet is becoming the town square for the global village of tomorrow.” ~Bill Gates

What in the world did we do before the internet came along? Jeeez….I try to think back and wonder. It is so hard to imagine how we went about our lives without this magical tool. It is my lifeline to friends, family, shopping, and the rest of our collective known reality.

It was just last night I discovered I can make free phone calls with my Google email account (Gmail) without ever touching a telephone! What?! If you keep phone numbers updated on your contact list it’s even easier.

Honestly, I never thought in a million years I would be able to sit here typing this stuff for my own website. It’s really extraordinary because anyone can do this, and I do mean anyone! If I can, then you can, no doubt about it.

There is this little thing called WordPress. It makes everything so freaking easy and fun. WordPress is how I’m getting these words to your eyes….crazy. As of this day, I have had visitors from 98 countries! What other way could I express myself to so many people?

“WordPress is web software you can use to create a beautiful website or blog. We like to say that WordPress is both free and priceless at the same time.

WordPress started in 2003 with a single bit of code to enhance the typography of everyday writing and with fewer users than you can count on your fingers and toes. Since then it has grown to be the largest self-hosted blogging tool in the world, used on millions of sites and seen by tens of millions of people every day.

WordPress started as just a blogging system, but has evolved to be used as full content management system and so much more through the thousands of plugins, widgets, and themes, WordPress is limited only by your imagination”

If you own your own business, you would have to be completely insane not to have a website. Preposterous I tell you! It would be occupational suicide! Just having a personal site is cool because you can connect with the world, share ideas, or just post videos of cats getting their heads stuck in boxes (never dull to watch).

Almost overnight, the Internet’s gone from a
technical wonder to a business must

If having a sleek, professional looking site of your very own appeals to you, there is this site you should check out which has many inspiring WordPress resources called, WP Partner Review.

“WordPress Partner Review was developed as an all-in-one resource for those wanting to take WordPress to the next level. The team here at WPR have been developing successful WordPress-based websites for several years. To say we love the WordPress platform would be an understatement, and one of the best parts of WordPress is the large community of users who provide free and open code in the form of plugins, themes, and other extensions.”

There are themes for showing off photos and artwork, or maybe you just want to blog about things that piss you off? There’s no better way than to do it online. Really, check it out and join the 21st century! Anything you imagine is possible.

The message for business people contemplating their
place in cyberspace is simple and direct:
get linked or get lost

You forgot one huge point- It’s OPEN SOURCE!!!! Which equals “awesome.” I have wordpress installed on my site… so easy. And I don’t have to pay for typepad anymore!
My mom started a blog. That’s the best- seeing the older generation get into it!

  • Darrin Says:

Ha! Well you just added it for me ;) OPEN SOURCE!!

See, you know it’s easy when the ‘Mom” generation can use it.
