“How people treat you is their karma; how you react is yours.” ~Wayne Dyer
Karma was on my mind over the past few days as I had a bit of an altercation with some folks online during a discussion about something we all felt passionately about. The subject of our discussion is not important but the way we reacted towards each other was and both sides failed miserably. Lets just say the discussion got heated and one thing led to another until we were all spitting nails.
This bothered me for days afterward because I really have a distaste for this type of behavior. Why is it so easy to be so rude to others, especially via the internet? Maybe we don’t have a face to associate with the person on the other end?
Whichever the reason, I simply couldn’t bear the feeling that was eating away at me. You know that spot of rage you feel inside your solar plexus? That empty, achy pain is a sensation I can’t stand to feel nowadays and physical pain is far more tolerable. (more…)
“There are some things one remembers even though they may never have happened.” ~ Harold Pinter, Old Times
Since I have been writing about my crystal meth experiences one thing has remained constant. I am not sure, nor have I ever been sure, of what was real and what was not real. I have had to accept the things I remember so vividly …may never have happened. (more…)
“According to the karma of past actions, one’s destiny unfolds, even though everyone wants to be so lucky.” ~ Sri Guru Granth Sahib
I knew my partner (let’s call him Andrew) had moved away from his home state with unresolved legal problems but I never realized the full extent of it, but I found out quickly how serious it was a few days ago. I will give you the condensed version…..
Like me, Andrew had become mixed up with the wrong crowd years ago and got in trouble for possession of an illegal substance. He ended up being put on probation but when we met he let that all go and moved to my state anyway. Karma was following him… (more…)
“We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures.” ~Thornton Wilder
The sun is shinning, the air is warm and it’s an all around beautiful day here in Sarasota, Florida. This is what a friend of mine was thinking when he decided to head over to one of the area beaches today but things didn’t go as expected, sometimes things go wrong.
The Breakdown
Halfway to the beach on a busy road, near an equally busy intersection is where his car decided it was going to take a nice nap and just shut down. He couldn’t start it or move it and he couldn’t even put the hood up which is the universal sign of “help me” because the rod that holds up the hood broke months ago. (more…)
“Chase down your passion like it’s the last bus of the night.” ~Terri Guillemets
As of late, I have been doing more things that I enjoy which makes me much happier (duh). My passion for creating something out of nothing whether it be a craft, an art, and even writing something on a blank page has been working towards my ultimate happiness.
If you could, what would you do?
It’s not always easy to figure out what you’re going to enjoy doing. Sometimes it’s so obvious that it takes you half a lifetime to figure it out as it did me. Sometimes you need a friend to push you in the right direction, or in my case, several friends over the years. Sometimes I’m a little dense! (more…)
“In life there are no winners, only assholes with Swiss Bank Accounts.” ~ Matthew Lotti
I felt better after going off on my bitch-fest the other day, although, it was only a temporary fix as I’m a big ol’ A-hole again today. I learned something a couple days ago…. I learned to embrace my inner asshole (get your mind out of the gutter). I was watching a video of Deepak Chopra a friend had sent me five months ago. I forgot about it and never watched it until I was cleaning out my email inbox. I seemed to find it when I needed it. (more…)
“To die will be an awfully big adventure.” ~ Sir James M. Barrie
There are stories of people seeing bees, butterflies, humming birds, and dragonflies soon after someone significant dies in their lives. Although, the signs people see are not limited to insects or other animal life, but can also be anything that was significant in that person’s life. This phenomenon is referred to “After Death Communication.”
It may be a song, it may be sound, it may be a smell, but whatever it is, you must be open to it’s presence and awake enough to experience it or it may go unnoticed. I believe these signs are around us each and every day and we are too busy to notice something so simple most of the time. (more…)
“What is a diary as a rule? A document useful to the person who keeps it. Dull to the contemporary who reads it and invaluable to the student, centuries afterwards, who treasures it.”~ Walter Scott
I have been keeping a journal since early 2007 after my mother told me what a wonderful idea it would be due to my past traumatic events. After months of her doing the insistent “mom” thing, I broke down and wrote, and unexpectedly, I began to really enjoy it.
Over the years, you’ll see them evolve from dorky and stupid to having actual “meat” in them. Since the beginning, I noticed and read about the benefits of journaling or keeping a diary, or whatever you want to call it….. (more…)
“Things do not change; we change.” ~ Henry David Thoreau
When I was a child…
Turkey Day meant turkey, being dragged by my ear to a very long, dull day with those old ones, otherwise known as parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts etc, etc… (they were all old to me then)
When I was a teenager….
See above.
Nothing has changed except my growing disdain toward my Dad’s desire to kill deer.
Wait….my concept of time has changed and this day seems MUCH longer! (more…)
In the paragraph below, there is a very short conversation between a man and his grandson who are allegedly Native American, Comanche to be exact. Honestly, I don’t really know where it originated or if it’s authentic or not but I don’t think it’s that important – the message IS. It could work with anyone of any era I suppose, but this is what I found in an email. It’s so simple and so true …I always like to spread positive or inspirational things, so here ya go…. (more…)
