Attention Conspiracy Theorists and Those Who Live in Fear

Thursday, August 2nd, 2012 | Permalink

There is a power inside every human against which no earthy force is of the slightest consequence” -Neville Goddard.

Once upon a time I was a full-fledged conspiracy theorist due to the huge amount of time I had on my hands while trying to recover from an illness. All I had was time – it took me over a year to recover with a lot of waiting and patience. In that time I happened to stumble upon conspiracy theories while sitting at the computer for endless hours with nothing else to do. I got sucked in. (more…)

To the Nurses: I Thank You!

Nurses dispense comfort, compassion, and caring without even a prescription.” ~Val Saintsbury

National Nurse Week begins on May 6 (aka National Nurse Day) and goes through May 12 so I would like to publicly say “thank you” to all the nurses out there who make a difference in many people’s lives every day. Not only do they help their patients, they make a difference in the lives of the families of those patients. (more…)

A Decade with HIV

Every human being is the author of his own health or disease.” ~ Buddha

Celebrating 10 Years!I always thought being diagnosed with HIV would be the worst imaginable nightmare and maybe it was due to spending my teenage years in the 1980′s. It was a big scary deal back then and people were pretty freaked out!

Much later, in 2001, I got the news that my test came back positive and I was not as scared as I would have been a decade earlier. Today, in 2011, it’s even better as I take only one pill at bedtime and as an added bonus, it makes me feel like I got a little buzz going before I drift off to dreamland. (more…)

Religious and Spiritual Tolerance

My religion is very simple. My religion is kindness.” ~Dalai Lama

Years ago I think I was more of an atheist and had no belief in a “God” as I understood the concept. I thought the concept sounded primitive, archaic Daemons, Gods and other Spiritsand was for people with very weak minds that were afraid of death. I thought religion was an excellent concept that would keep the population in check and keep them afraid. The phrase, “God Fearing” told me it was all a bunch crap as I believed any God would not want you to fear it. I say “it” because to me, a God doesn’t have a sex, unless Zeus is your God, then by all means, say “him.” (more…)

Stuff I Already Have – Lessons In Gratitude

Thursday, January 20th, 2011 | Permalink

Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.” ~William Arthur Ward

Grateful

All I want to say is, “Holy Shit!” Sorry, trying not to be crude but it just seemed like an accurate choice of words. Those words explain how I feel a lot of the time. Sometimes the shit is bad, sometimes the shit is good! Today I’ll explain how the shit went from what I thought was very bad, to very, very good. (more…)

Healed by Gratitude and Humor

Through humor, you can soften some of the worst blows that life delivers. And once you find laughter, no matter how painful your situation might be, you can survive it.” ~ Bill Cosby

Naughty Betty on Ash Wednesday (Chain smoking detail) 2008 by Donald Roller WilsonI think I have talked about the depressing parts of my life for long enough. All the stories of drug abuse, hallucinations, fear, illness, and the rest. I have noticed I seldom think about them now which makes it really, really, tough to write about. Writing here on this blog has led to an enormous release of pain and I am grateful. (more…)

Don’t Worry & Let Things Fall Into Place

Be careful what you water your dreams with. Water them with worry and fear and you will produce weeds that choke the life from your dream. Water them with optimism and solutions and you will cultivate success.” ~ Lao Tzu

~Siesta Key~Here I sit in Sarasota, Florida! I really had no idea how this was going to happen, all I knew was, my partner and I wanted it passionately.

I have to admit I was very stressed out about it in the beginning. Trying to find a home to rent when my partner is unemployed and I only work part-time from home at best. Having to fudge a little on the rental application was traumatic for me! I hate to lie. Luckily, a friend offered to pay the security and 1st month to get us going. (more…)

Thoughts Are Energy – Energy Has Power

Thoughts are like seeds. If you want different results in life, you have to figure out which thoughts are capable of growing those results and which aren’t.” ~ Steve Pavlina

Life is but a continuing evolution of adjustments and reassessments of what IS …….at least that’s what is happening to me. The meaning of things I have in my possession are again causing me some minor heartache. Today I will be getting yet another bag ready for the clothing drop-off location for Goodwill, and I will have a second bag next to it for the beautiful dumpster.

The dumpster is a wonderful thing that will take all my bad memories and swallow them up, no questions asked. Once the bad memories are loaded into the garbage they immediately begin to lose their grip and right then, right, there, I begin to forget they ever existed. (more…)

An Authentic Life

Saturday, October 9th, 2010 | Permalink

I’m with you because I choose to be with you. I don’t want to live someone else’s idea of how to live. Don’t ask me to do that. I don’t want to find out one day that I’m at the end of someone else’s life.” ~ Denys (Robert Redford) “Out of Africa” 1985

I love this quote Out of Africa and I think it packs quite a punch. For me it means, don’t try to live up to someone else’s expectations – be your authentic self. Some people already live an authentic life and some will think they are. Then there are those that will read this and scratch their heads as if I am typing in code.

Don’t change because you think that’s what someone else wants and especially, not if you know that’s what someone else wants. Were you born to please this person? Were you brought into this world to be someone else’s possession for them to mold? Don’t be someone’s puppet when you should be in control of your own strings. (more…)

Trust Your Instincts

Saturday, October 2nd, 2010 | Permalink

Good instincts usually tell you what to do long before your head has figured it out.” ~ Michael Burke

Have you ever felt confused when faced with a problem or an issue…..I think we all have. Then you go back and forth weighing the options, making a list of the pros and cons, then you become more confused and quickly frustrated. The anxiety levels build and then you make a decision….then you change your mind but you don’t know why. Soon the options become so unclear you get pissed off and then you make a choice out of anger.

Maybe that isn’t an every day scenario, but I’m sure it’s somewhat familiar to most of us (crap, I hope it’s not just me). (more…)
