Exercise Sucks, I Love to Smoke and Eat Junk

Sunday, May 19th, 2013 | Permalink

I left you all with the idea that I was smoke free and I was still exercising, right? What a bunch of horse shit!Wagons Ho

I’ve hit some bumps in the road and I have been smoking again for about 3 weeks. I went 3 months without smoking before I fell off the wagon….again. I do, however, plant to quit and go back to e-cigarettes. Again, people around me were smoking and in a social setting, it’s extremely hard not to join in! First you bum a cigarette from someone else, then one becomes two, then two becomes a few until you feel so guilty you offer this person money for all the cigarettes you’ve smoked. (more…)

Four Weeks Smoke Free and the Cigarette Companies Can Suck It!

Jesus H, I thought I would never be able to quit smoking but it’s looking really good! Tomorrow marks four weeks of being smoke free!Wake Up!

I still get cravings and I imagine I’ll always have these cravings to some degree because I’ve smoked for approximately 25 years. Since I can’t go back in time and slap that first cigarette out of my hand, I’ll have to be happy I quit when I did, but I really wish I could tell my younger self how much I would stink like an ashtray throughout my youth. Yes, yes, and all the carcinogens I exposed myself to during those 25 years is awful too. (more…)

Confession of a Serial Smoker

Observe due measure, for right timing is in all things the most important factor.” -Hesiod

Well shit! I have to come clean on my smoking because I told you I quit back in June and at the time it was true. Right after I told you of my success in quitting I found a damn pack of cigarettes under my car seat with ONE lone cigarette inside! I hate waste so I couldn’t very well Smoke in your Sky (The Giant Cigarette)throw it away so I smoked the little temptress! That led to buying more cigarettes and the rest is history.

I never find “lost” cigarettes unless I have recently quit smoking. This happened once before when I quit. I was getting into my car one day after having quit and as I sat down I noticed a pack of cigarettes in the parking lot right beside my car.  Of course I had to get out to make sure it was just trash but when I picked it up I realized it was a brand new pack FULL of cigarettes. Why does the Universe tempt me like this?! If it’s a test, then I fail each time.

The only reason I’m confessing is because I quit again.  Tonight will be four days being smoke free, however, I am using my good ‘ol electric cigarette. (more…)

Persistence Leads to Success in My Battle with Cigarettes

A little more persistence, a little more effort, and what seemed hopeless failure may turn to glorious success.” ~Elbert Hubbard

Smoking has been part of my life for 25 years and I have quit for several months on a handful of different occasions but always ended up going back to smoking. Each time I picked up the habit again I was with friends who still smoked and the temptation was too strong. Well, I no longer have any friends that smoke…. at least none that I am around regularly.

Week One

As I write this, I am on the eve of being ‘smoke’ free for an entire week! I didn’t want to let anyone know I was trying again because every time I talked about it here, I failed but persistence has finally paid off. (more…)

Quit Smoking in Baby Steps

Don’t mistake pleasure for happiness. They are a different breed of dogs.” ~ Josh Billings

Over the past week I have had some thoughts about my plan to quit smoking. Quitting cold turkey is too much of a jolt to my system after having been a smoker for over two decades.

I feel I have no choice but to embrace the method of taking baby steps because so far, nothing else has worked. I feel this is the best plan for me because several years ago, this method actually worked! Obviously I began smoking again but that was due to being around too many people who still smoked. Right now, I don’t have a lot of smokers in my life so that is a big plus. (more…)

Quitting Cigarettes for the New Year

Cheers to a New Year and another chance for us to get it right.” -Oprah Winfrey

Happy New Year to you all!  I have said it before and God knows I have tried before, but on this New Year’s Day I am hell bent on quitting smoking cigarettes for good. I have smoked for a solid 24 years and I can’t remember what it is like to not smoke.

I have three packs of cigarettes left and that means a three day supply, but over the course of the next several days (or more) I am going to ignore the routine I have created over the last 24 years. Hopefully, I can replace my bad habit with a better one! My source of inspiration this time has come from a site called, Lifestyle Changeup, you should check it out! (more…)

A Slave to Cigarettes

If we see you smoking we will assume you are on fire and take appropriate action.” ~ Douglas Adams

I have quit using Ecstasy, GHB, Cocaine, and Crystal Meth, but I find it 1,000 times more difficult to quit smoking cigarettes. Is it because it is more socially acceptable and I can smoke whenever I feel like it?  Is it because I can buy it anywhere legally? (more…)
